Old Orchard II Swim Team

Collin’s love of swimming started at a young age. Genelle and Collin were very fortunate to live in a neighborhood that had a swim team from mid-June through mid-July. Each year from about the age of 6 or 7, they both would have the most wonderful time swimming for the Old Orchard II Sharks. It was a great way to spend the first 4-5 weeks of summer practicing and competing with all of the kids in the neighborhood. Collin met some of his best friends during swim team: Sandy, Chris, Gilberto, Alex, Sage, Brittany, Brianna and Garrett just to name a few. During Collin’s last year on the team, he was also a volunteer to the very young swimmers and provided swim lessons to help them improve. It’s interesting what your children do without telling you! We were so proud to find this out after he left us, by some wonderful parents and children. The Old Orchard II residents are responsible for funding this amazing annual summer team. It takes lots of volunteers are able to make sure the season goes off without a hitch. It would be Collin’s wish to continue to support the Old Orchard II Sharks, the way they supported him for many years. In order for the Sharks to keep going, they need operational funding to make sure all residents are able to participate. The Collin Gore Memorial Foundation will annually provide funding to the Sharks to help offset the rising costs.
